Windows 7 Signage Studio, Internal Error while uploading
« on: July 31, 2012, 12:55:00 PM »
Hi,
we installed Signage Studio on a Win 7 machine and when uploading/saving we get the following error:
Internal Error
Error was sent to server for further investigation.
sorry for the inconvenience

Submit to the server fail

We followed the steps of a previous post about changing "user account control" but it didn't solve the problem
When uploading/saving from a Mac it works though.

Thank you.

Best,

Uli Kimmich

What is the file name you are uploading?
Make sure it only has standard ascii characters (1-9 a-z etc...) no % or $ or & ....

Thanks for the quick response.
It is a Rich Text element and contains the letters "A B C". The error still occurs.

What I think admin means, is that the filename itself mustn't contain any special characters. What the contents of the file is, doesn't matter as much. Try renaming the file to something like "upload.rtf".

FYI, RTF format is not supported, thus the issue...

MediaSignage officially supports all of the Flash Media Formats which include:

Video Formats: Flash video FLV (H.263), MPEG-4 (H.264) ,MOV, M4A, MP4V, 3GP, 3G2, AAC (HE, LC), SWF

We HIGLY recommend you use FLV (Flash Video) with H.264 encoding as it supports
hardware acceleration and will run on the GPU (not CPU) and give the best performance

Animation: SWF
Flash CS can produce SWFs. SWF are vector based and are rendered on the CPU and
so they are highly CPU intensive, especially when ran in high resolution (large screen division).

Images: JPG, PNG

Sound: MP3

However, you should note, due to the hundreds of different encoders available today, it is possible that some of your files may not run properly in your signage presentation.

That is why we highly recommend you use a Freeware utility like Super to convert your media files to standard format including FLV, PNG or SWF. This will eliminate any encoder /decoder issues you may experience. You can read our conversion format document here:
http://mediasignage.com/html/media_file_conversion.html

And download the Free media format converters here:

http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/
Also available here: http://www.mediasignage.com/files/FreemakeVideoConverter_2.0.1.2.exe

I updated to SignageStudio 4, Beta and the error still exists.
We're running SignageStudio 4 on a Windows 7 system and the upload/save throws an error and won't update the stations.

The media type is not causing the error. The channels have simple text labels and it has been working fine with SignageStudio on a Mac.

Thanks.

Logged into to your account and was able to create a scene and save and upload with no issues,

Try clearing the  cookies and cache of the studio.

Close Studio

In XP
Delete C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\SignageStudio.XXX
(USER_NAME = logged on windows XP user)

In Windows 7 / Vista
Delete C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\SignageStudio.XXX
To get to this folder,  Click on Start, and on the search field type %appdata% hit enter, and then delete the SignageStudio.xxxx folder.

Then try saving again.
