« on: October 16, 2008, 10:06:19 AM »
Just wondering what people are doing for rss news feeds and weather feeds presently since Media Signage will not be implementing these features until the new year.

Hello,

We will have weather in about a month or so...
Until we do, you can write your own using Flash ( swf ) and embed it... ( if you are good with Flash and AS3 )

If not, hope you can come back in a 1-2 months when we will have this ready for you ...

Regards,

Sean.

Here is what I am doing for now.

Download firefox http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Install this ad on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3590

And rip the videos from accuweather's youtube channel

When designing a scrolling ticker keep in mind that many DS software solutions are plaguaged  with choppy  tickers that are not smooth . We have been trying for over 2 yrs to get a smooth ticker from 4 different companies  and just now we are starting to get better results. Scala has the  best in the industry as far as smoothness, however others are getting close . The issue with the ticker is that when  written in flash and another piece of flash content flash  plays, alot of  other software solutions skip  or shutter  this is even more aggrevated  with dual tickers . If the ticker is written in java it gets better but unsure of the exact techniques now a days being used to resolve this...thnks Brian

What is it that you need to implement ?
You can use our HTML component to embed yahoo RSS Weather or use the pre-templates we have in the system. International is only today and tomorw so you can use the HTML embed in the AIRPlayer with the Yahoo RSS weather feed.

Always glad to help,
