I am using RSS news and weather data in 2 of the 5 windows that make up my signage display; I've noticed that when I lose Internet connection then I get text "NA" or nothing at all in these windows.

Could you tweak the software so that these windows continue to play the last information cached from the Internet until connection is restored?  This would keep some content going on my sign and you could even add some text like "Internet connection lost" or something like that so that the viewer would know that the information on screen is not current (i.e. not the current outdoor temperature) until connection is restored.
