Media Box Alternative
« on: April 25, 2012, 09:38:10 AM »
We are wanting to put two screens in each of our stores. A small one up front and a large tv screen mounted in the back. We would like to set it up wireless and we have found an all in one computer and a tv with built in wifi.

I have read through the forums and I am aware of the minimum pc requirements to run signage player. I just don't know about tvs..

Since the TV has a built in computer, the recommended specs remain the same.

For good performance with Videos and SWF animation, we recommend an Intel powered 2.6GHz Dual Core2 or better with 2GB of memory and at least  40GB storage.

It is recommended but not required. Faster cpu, smoother playing campaign. You can use slower or lower end cpus, just make sure to adjust the content of your campaign accordingly.

Short answer: Yes. Do not rely on the build-in computer in the TV. It more than likely is not enough.
Long answer: It depends on the amount of objects/animation you plan on displaying. If you only need to display a single solid block of color that never changes, you don't need a dual-core. If you do, however, plan on using interchanging content and animated sequences, you really really should use a computer that matches the required specs.

It will work if you take the entire box but will not work for just the card.
That's assuming you are still in the same provisioning area as the original box and not some distance away.
