SignagePlayer Won't Start - Looks Minimized
« on: February 14, 2012, 01:50:02 PM »
I tried searching, but could find no fix.

I've installed SignagePlayer on a workstation that I am accessing remotely. When I go to start the player, it opens but looks minimized to my system tray. I cannot expand the window or anything.

I have tried "cleanly" uninstalling and reinstalling the player, but it didn't work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also, the workstation is running Windows XP Professional Version 2002 SP3.

You will need to clear cookies and cache so that the passwords and registered settings will be cleared.

Close player

In XP
Delete C:\Documents and Settings\USER_NAME\Application Data\SignagePlayer.XXX
(USER_NAME = logged on windows XP user)

In Windows 7 / Vista
Delete C:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\SignagePlayer.XXX
To get to this folder,  Click on Start, and on the search field type %appdata% hit enter, and then delete the SignagePlayer.xxxx folder.

and re-launch and re-register

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I've done this actually. I've closed the player, deleted the files, and tried to open, but the player will not ever show a log-in screen.

I've also completely uninstalled the player, and deleted those folders, reinstalled, but still cannot see the application screen.

Not sure whats wrong with your installation, could be the OS itself that is having issues. Try a clean installed OS and test again.

Try killing any applications that might use flash and relaunching. I've had this happen before.  SignagePlayer.exe (and SignageController.bat) processes will be running, however SignagePlayer appears to hang around 15,000-18,000K, and won't progress any further.  As soon as I kill certain applications, Skype being one of the most prominent, and restart SignagePlayer it launches and runs properly.
