Schedular
« on: January 20, 2012, 03:02:24 PM »
To make the programming of a presentation more intuitive and less repetitive in the scheduler it would be great to be able to add a selection of times which you want the commercial or image to run. Now you just can choose the weekday and dates.

Hi,

You can already do that with current scheduler... you can schedule timelines to play anytime of the day.

Please watch this video tutorial: http://mediasignage.com/html/signage_video.html?videoNumber=campaignSched

I know what the scheduler can do. I am talking about an option where you can select after how many minutes the file will replay. Every 5 or 10 minutes for example. Without this function it takes a lot of time to do 1 timeline if you want to replay a file after 5 minutes. If there is another way to do this...please let me know because i have not found it.

Regards,
Brian

:) Hopefully if the Playlist component gets added (from my previous thread request) here is how it would work.
You would schedule the individual resources in a playlist with a start date/time and ending date/time. You would also have the ability to schedule what days of the week and what time of days that resource should play. (similar to the advertising component) With these options - creating a dynamic playlist would be a breeze to program. You could add day-parting for resources that only need to run in the mornings for example. Can't wait for this feature. They say it's coming in 3.1 or 3.2.

I am all for the playlist component as described by AVGEEK!  This could really help to make this a true world-class software solution.  Remember that the power of digital signage is the ability to play the correct message at the right time.  Enhanced scheduling abilities should be incredibly high on the implementation list.

PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE!!!

But I really think the Ad Engine fills that gap with the ability to set playback times for resources / packages for ANY selected day / time range.

Thoughts?

The Ad Component is a very big step in the right direction but the focus there is more on managing the advertiser / client relationship with the outgoing and incoming ad acceptance features. We need something similar for internal use, And the ability to have multiple playlists - not just the global one. I would like to have a separate playlist for each zone/region in a timeline per campaigns. Each playlist would rotate through resources independently of the other. I would schedule all of these resources in an easy-to-administer list view that would let me choose start/end date, days of week and times of day per resource - per playlist. When you add the ability to have transitions between resources, you could program that in the list view as well.
The main timeline metaphor would still have its place for overall programming. I can see scheduling additional resources in the timeline such as weather, rss - following a playlist component. This would give us great control over the balance of how things played out. (although these resources should be able to be nested inside the playlist component as well).
You have a great system and I don't want to sound negative. This feature would just add an enormous amount of additional programming flexibility.

I am all for this and have been asking for enhanced scheduling capabilities all along.  PLEASE add this, MediaSignage.  The Ad Engine is powerful but again I am having to find work arounds to make it do what AVGEEK suggests.  Ease of scheduling content rather than timelines will really make your software a world class solution.

With all of this excessive waiting for Ver 3.2, is it possible you will incorporate this playlist component feature to enhance the scheduling options that, in my humble opinion, need a radical makeover?  This playlist component would be an amazing step in the right direction with regard to scheduling.
