That topic seems to have been removed. Any update to this as 4.0 is soon to be released? MediaBox vs Mac Mini. Who wins here or are we now on a level playing field when it comes to the SignagePlayer? Also on a side note, what about other players out there?

Our experience is that Windows 'just works' mostly, and when it does break, the knowledge is there to fix it. The PC spec is also a little misleading in that is depends on what you are doing onscreen. We run 720p HD video almost full screen, with a largely static text bar at the bottom, on little HP Microserver boxes ($150 after rebate, plus a copy of Windows) and they are fine - all on a dual core 1.5G CPU.

I can't reveal too much info yet, but can say we will soon have a player that's 1/2 the price and x2 the power of any competitor with full feature set ;)
It will not replace the mediaBOX as it will be a low end player.

I realize this is an old post.. but had to stick up for Mac.  I'm definitely not a "Mac fanatic" by any means... they have their advantages over PCs, but also some disadvantages.  However - for those of us in any sort of digital media field - Mac is FAR superior, and you'll find that the vast majority of digital artists use a Mac. Most (if not all) higher learning institutions teaching digital media also use Mac.  So I understand some hate it for whatever reason... but it's importance and value should still be considered.

The topic is about computers running the signage player application, not for content creation which Macs excels in.

I realize that.  I was replying to a previous statement that was made.
