Hello,

I know that I am new and all, trying to sift through all this information.  I am trying to find out how to get a local weather channel working as well as a news feed (like a CNN TV station or CBC)

Can anyone offer a laymen's instruction/

for local weather info, you can use our world weather component.

if you are looking for weather news feed from your local weather news, you can ask your local news website if they have RSS Feeds or Media Feeds you can use. for text based news feed, use the RSS Component and for video or podcast feed, use our Media RSS Component

best regards

I also had customers complaining about the weather not being accurate so I did a little digging.  The weather component works however it is not real-time.  It turns out that the weather data (that is displayed in DS) is approx 4 hours old.  Most people may not notice it if the weather in that area does not fluctuate greatly.  This is not a fault of the DS software but the data source that they use.  If you want up to the minute weather data, I suggest getting it through another service like screenfeed or build your own.
